He Knows You

Series: Dry Fountains | Week 1: Dry Fountains

Day Four John 4:16-20

16 “Go and get your husband,” Jesus told her.

17 “I don’t have a husband,” the woman replied.

Jesus said, “You’re right! You don’t have a husband— 18 for you have had five husbands, and you aren’t even married to the man you’re living with now. You certainly spoke the truth!”

19 “Sir,” the woman said, “you must be a prophet. 20 So tell me, why is it that you Jews insist that Jerusalem is the only place of worship, while we Samaritans claim it is here at Mount Gerizim, where our ancestors worshiped?”
– John 4:16-20 (NLT)

Discover
1. Why do you think Jesus asks the woman to go get her husband (verse 16)?
2. What does it reveal about Jesus that He knows all about the Samaritan woman?
3. What does her response reveal (verse 19-20)?

Respond
Jesus tells the Samaritan woman to go get her husband, knowing that she doesn't have one. As a matter of fact, Jesus knows she’s been married five times and is currently living with a man who is not her husband. Jesus knows everything about her, showing that while He is fully human, He's also fully God. How do you react to Jesus knowing everything about you? Spend some time in prayer thanking God for knowing everything about you and choosing to love you.

For Families with Kids at Home
Explain to your kids that Jesus knows everything we’ve ever done – all the good and all the bad! But even though He knows every bad thing we’ve ever done, He doesn’t love us any less. In fact, He loves us so much that He was willing to sacrifice everything for us. Take time to pray with your kids today, and thank Jesus for how well He knows us and that He loves us so much!
