In his second letter, Peter reminds Christians scattered across Asia Minor of their identity as followers of Jesus. We, too, can be reminded of our identity. We are the church. Born again, chosen, royal priests, a holy nation, and God’s very own possession. Our purpose as believers cannot be realized apart from community. Being in a relationship with Jesus means being in a relationship with others, with the purpose to make the goodness of God known to the world.
