Today we close out our study of Philippians with a reminder to eliminate worry. Paul has spent his entire letter to the Philippian church reminding them of all the reasons they can be joyful. Throughout his life, he’s had plenty of reasons to worry, but he’s chosen to embrace contentment and rejoice. Why? Because Jesus offers a rich and satisfying life.

When we abide in Jesus, we’re not worried about losing what we have or if we’ll have enough. We develop a sense of trust, believing that God will provide. The only place contentment is found is in the presence of Jesus. He invites us to come to Him, surrender to Him, dwell in Him, abide in Him…in any and every circumstance.

God has given us all we need. Whether we’re in a situation where loneliness sets in, the struggle is real, there’s a loss, opposition comes, pride creeps in, temptations emerge, we’re facing conflict, the past haunts us, worry returns, or money is tight, Jesus is enough. In all these things, let’s be rebels in a culture that tries to make it all about us. Let’s abide in Jesus and choose joy.

Eliminate worry. What specific things are you most likely to worry about? Write down at least one attribute of God that reminds you of who He is. How can this help eliminate your worry in this area? If helpful, reach out to someone close to you for accountability to keep your eyes on Jesus instead of your worries.
