In Daniel 1, we saw Babylon’s strategy to influence Daniel. In chapter 2, we see Daniel’s strategy to influence Babylon. God was at work in and through Daniel because he didn’t isolate, blend in, or water down. He was deeply involved in others’ lives who were far from God, and he lived unapologetically for God. When the pressure’s on, God wants to give us a solid foundation so we can make a difference for Him.
*Note the following correction:
Daniel and his friends were taken to Babylon in 605BC, during the first invasion in the first year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign. Nebuchadnezzar’s dream was revealed and interpreted in 604BC, the second year of his reign (Daniel 2:1). Jeremiah 29 was written to exiles taken to Babylon in 597BC, nine years after Daniel and his friends were taken, not before.
