Review

1. How are wildflowers cared for?

2. What does God know about us?

3. What should we seek?

Reflect

Just as God values the birds He made and feeds them every day, He also cares for every flower that grows on His earth. Even though they don’t last long, He tenderly dresses every blossom in color and splendor. In Jesus’ day, grasses were a natural source of fuel for fire, so His listeners would’ve been familiar with the image of plants that were alive one day and gone the next.

If God gives this much attention and care to wildflowers, how much more will He care for His people? If He knows exactly how much sunlight and water each different plant needs, how much more does He know just what we need, too? In our limited perspectives, we often believe we know what we need, and God desires to hear us bring these needs to Him.

But when your prayers aren’t answered how you thought they’d be, that’s the moment to remind yourself of God’s character. God created the world and knows best how to care for every creature in it – and He created you and knows how to best care for you, too.

Respond

What aspect of the natural world most reminds you of God’s character? Whether you connect more easily to Him through birdsong or a rainstorm, in the mountains or near the water, how can you add more time, space, or places to dwell in God’s presence throughout your weeks? Spend some time in prayer bringing your needs and desires before Him, and thank Him for knowing how to best care for His creation.
